At first glance, Erica isn’t much to look at… she is a big girl all
around. Her first owner apologized about her being fat. We agreed that
she could “milk it off” and she is definitely doing that!
She does have a nice layer of fat, but under that are some very nicely
sprung ribs. The rear-most ones are a bit shorter than we like and this
narrows her abdomen, but her size leaves her with plenty of room inside
those ribs.
Her body capacity is very large, even more than
Chambray, and she has a great set of
legs. Her neck is her biggest weakness – she has a short neck that looks
a bit “meaty.” You see her eyes, travel down her neck and think you are
looking at a Boer doe, but everything behind that neck is dairy.
This season she has settled and
she has a fantastic udder that is well attached all around. I would
vote her to have the best attachments of all the goats in our herd.
She also makes the most milk of all of our first fresheners. Her mom is a 7*D
and her sire is a son of the stud-muffin Stetson ++*S. There is a lot of
dairy character back there that has come out in her first freshening! (Her
full
brother (pic)
won 2 Reserve Champions and his
daughters’ (pic)
udders are wonderful too).
