When we got Wiggy at 18 months, he had already won Reserve Junior Champion
(at 6 months). He has Twin Creeks all over his pedigree and their
emphasis on udder production was a big selling point. When we got him, he
was at an awkward stage of adolescence and so we decided to let him grow
some more before we decided how to use him. What a difference that made -
the past year and a half has matured Wiggy into a compact, but strong
“dairy” buck with rear width that exceeds
Cody.
Wiggy is a well-shaped buck with a shorter frame than Cody. He has great
width in front and especially in back and a widely sprung set of ribs that
show great capacity. His skin is very dairy and he carries himself with a
“spring in his step”. A very lively addition to our bucks.
We held back on him last winter and only gave him two does to mate with
(one didn’t settle and the other only had bucks). We are using him
extensively this year, so we are very excited to see his progeny in 2008.
